What things have gone wrong with the car?Soft suspension.
Sluggish five-speed tranny.
Slightly heavy clutch.
General comments? This is the first Subaru I have owned (6 previous Hondas), and I'm sold on the product. This car has all the things that I look for in a vehicle, which is, first and foremost, solid reliability. The interior is well constructed and ergonomically correct. The upholstry has held up remarkably well for a ten-year-old car with virtually no signs of wear. At 140,000 miles, the engine is very quiet, runs strong, and uses no oil - also just passed DEQ with flying colors. The AWD is seamless and extremely effective in all conditions - under extreme cornering, ass end will come around if you lift off throttle ( unlike most FWD). The car also has an impressive list of features for the price, I especially like the auto-up feature on the power windows ( none of my Hondas had that). Trunk is remarkably big for a car of this size. The only complaint I can think of is that the five-speed does not like to be rushed between gears (unlike the tap-shift of any Honda), and clutch offers more resistance and requires more travel than I'm used to in an import. Handling is average, soft suspension gives a little more body roll than I would like, the compromise is that this allows for a very nice freeway ride. In all, this is a very good car and a great value that promises years of solid reliability - THUMBS UP
